The current situation

In order to get an overview of the current situation among the municipality's companies, we have asked the participants in the survey to state which challenges they have experienced in the past 6 months. Not surprisingly, half answer that the tense international situation has created challenges for their company.

It has, among other things, meant an increased cost level and almost half of the companies have announced price increases to their customers and almost every third company has been challenged by declining sales due to rising inflation.

Revenue and result

Fortunately, almost three-quarters of the companies respond that they have experienced a turnover and a result that has been as expected or better compared to their expectations 6 months ago, while close to a quarter of the companies have experienced a turnover and a result , which has been worse than expected.

investments
Every tenth company replies that the development in the investments made in the companies has been worse than expected, while 5% have experienced a positive development.

Expectations for the next 6 months

More than one in three companies expect that the uncertainty that comes with i.a. the war in Ukraine, will continue to affect their opportunity for growth in the next 6-12 months.

Revenue and result
Despite the challenges, however, more than one in four companies believe in a positive development in turnover and in the company's result. Just under a third expect that their turnover and result will be less, which may be connected to the fact that every third company in the next 6-12 months continues to expect challenges, e.g. in the form of declining sales due to rising inflation and rising transport costs.

investments
Going forward, 16% say they expect a positive development in investments, while 21% express that they expect a decrease.

Export
6% expect exports to take up more in the next six months.

Green transition and workforce
Almost every fifth company expects to meet demands from customers regarding green transition and sustainability, and every tenth company estimates that they will be even more challenged in the recruitment of qualified labour.

The above is the overall result of the business barometer, which shows some clear trends across industries. However, we know that industries are affected differently and will use the underlying data material to clarify the areas where we, as a business association, can best influence the companies' conditions.
