Billund Handelsforening and Grindsted Handel joined forces 2 years ago for a joint electronic gift card, which can be used in a good 50 shops in the 2 cities.

Jonas Pedersen is the owner of the clothing store Hr. P in Grindsted, and he is also one of the main forces behind the Billund-Grindsted Gift Card. Jonas believes that there are good advantages in, for example, giving the gift card as a staff gift this Christmas. "The recipient of the Gift Card has the opportunity to use it, pretty much as they wish, there is nothing you can't buy with the card after all. It's a really attractive gift to get, as you can use it in so many different businesses - and it's become really good after Billund Handelsforening joined just over 2 years ago."

Cooperation between Grindsted Handel and Billund Trade Association

It was Grindsted Trade that 5-6 years ago invested in a joint electronic gift card for the stores in Grindsted. With this solution, you could get rid of a lot of administration, and it turned out that it was a solution that worked really well. "We could quickly see that the Gift Card was popular. Previously, we had ordinary cardboard gift cards, and it worked just fine, but it was also difficult for the stores to handle," says Jonas Pedersen and continues: "With the electronic solution via NETS, it has become very easy for the stores to manage, and there are many advantages of this solution, but we were of course geographically bound to the stores in Grindsted. In connection with some other meetings with Torben Christiansen from the Billund Handelsforening, the gift card came into play, and quite quickly we established a collaboration so that the stores in Billund were also connected."

"With the Gift Voucher you are not tied to one store," explains Jonas "Once you have used your gift voucher, you are not forced to spend the rest of the amount in the same store. That's how it was in the old days. But with the Gift Card, you can shop freely in all the trade association's member shops until there is no more money on the card - and you can also spend very small amounts right up to the last kroner."

Development of the cities' trade and business environment

If a company chooses to give employees the Gift Card as a Christmas present, it also benefits the local area. Jonas Pedersen explains why: "When you give the Gift Voucher to your employees, the money goes to work in the local environment, it brings more people to the streets and increases turnover in local businesses. It will all help to develop the towns' trade and business environment - you could say that the Gift Card will help to send the company's employees down to the local stores, and then it is our responsibility to ensure that the customers are satisfied and leave here happy.”

The Billund-Grindsted gift card runs for 3 years, i.e. that you have 3 years to redeem the amount, so there is plenty of time.

If you as a company want to order the Gift Card for your employees, you must contact the cashier at Grindsted Handel at kasserer@grindstedhandel.dk.

The gift card is issued for min. DKK 100 and max. DKK 3.000

If you as a company are interested in growth and development, there is now the opportunity for free help and sparring from the Southern Denmark EU office and Billund ErhvervsFremme in the form of an innovation check.

The innovation check, which is free of charge, is designed as a workshop, built on a questionnaire of 50 questions within 6 themes, which the company reviews together with Jesper V. Hansen from The Southern Denmark EU Office and Stine Høgholt from Billund ErhvervsFremme.
Then a report is prepared via a benchmarking system that tells where the company should focus on developing or where there is room for improvement. Finally, the results from the questionnaire and of course the further development of the company are sparred and advised on.

The 6 themes the question frame is based on are:

  • Culture of innovation
  • Business understanding
  • Strategy
  • Structure
  • Capacity and resources
  • Innovation processes

The innovation check will typically involve 2-5 key employees and will include a 3-hour workshop and subsequent joint review of the report.

As a company, you will be able to use the workshop as a supplement or alternative to the strategy day.
