In the Green Business network, the participants have now reached the point where they have completed the first draft of their reports on the companies' green and sustainable efforts.
Tina Kirkegaard from the carpentry company Kurt Kirkegaard A/S is participating in the network, and she is very excited about it:
"It is incredibly exciting and educational to be part of the networking process. I have gained enormous knowledge about ESG, sustainability and green transition, and this has meant for us that we have gained a greater focus on using sustainable materials and getting the right certifications. We have also replaced the project managers' cars with electric cars, and we have had a greater focus on employee well-being”, Tina says.
Help and tools for sustainable reporting
As part of the network, participants must create a report, for which they will receive help, sparring and guidance from sustainability, ESG and circular economy teacher Simone Sæderup Nielsen from Simply Sustain and business developers Lars Gadgaard and Paul-Erik Hensgen from Billund Erhverv.
The reports show the companies' green and sustainable efforts and are prepared in an online tool that is based on the three main areas of ESG: Environment, Social and Governance. The tool contains inspirational questions that guide the user through the process and help fill in the different parts of the report.
"The help and support we have received through the network process has been invaluable. We have significantly advanced our sustainability efforts because we have received qualified help in preparing the report.”, says Tina.
The report makes a difference in practice
The reports can be used internally and externally with customers, suppliers, partners, employees and in connection with recruitment. Tina Kirkegaard has no doubt that the content of the report will have lasting significance for the company:
"Having a report where we can show our green and sustainable efforts in black and white could mean that customers choose us over our competitors. We are already seeing customers and partners asking about our sustainable efforts. Now we have something concrete that we can actively use in our communication.", says Tina, emphasizing how rewarding it has also been to spar with people from the same industry in a network.
The Green Business network course is a closed network with 16 local companies within the construction and contracting industry, who work with ESG, sustainability and green transition in their companies for a period of 1,5 years.
The network will continue into the autumn, where participants will continue to work on, among other things, climate accounting, communication of their sustainable efforts, and how they can use the report actively towards customers, suppliers, partners and new employees.
