Three leading tech companies, Manyone, myPallet og Oxygen, will meet on Wednesday morning at Cargo Center Billund for a 32-hour hackathon to develop and optimize a number of key challenges in the transport industry.

A hackathon is an intensive innovation process where different professionals meet and work together for a limited period of time to find solutions to specific problems.

The goal for the participants is to develop groundbreaking concepts that will strengthen Billund Airport's cargo operations and create new opportunities for efficiency and digitalization. At HACKATHON 2025, the three tech companies will find solutions from November 26 to 27 on how to reduce waiting times and peak loads in the cargo center, and how administrative processes can be digitalized to minimize paper handling.

"It is not unusual for us to experience peak loads for the delivery of goods by truck at Cargo Handling Billund Airport. This can create pressure on efficiency, the environment and the working environment, and this is a premise that we would like to see changed. Therefore, we hope that during the 32 hours we can get many good ideas and solution proposals on the table, which can be implemented in everyday life and which, hopefully, will create great value for our customers, for us and for our entire industry,” says Nicolai Krøyer, Director of Cargo Handling Billund Airport.

Collaboration on innovation
HACKATHON 2025 is part of the Billund Airport Innovation Hub and is organized in collaboration with Billund Airport, Blue Water Shipping, the Danish Triangle Area, Airport Hotel Billund and Billund Erhverv.

When the clock strikes 10 on Wednesday morning, participants will be welcomed by Marie Skov Lillelund, Director of Billund Erhverv, who will set the stage for the program and purpose of HACKATHON 2025.

Afterwards, Mads Thimmer, CEO and co-founder of Innovation Lab, and Steffan Laugaard Nielsen, Digital Innovation Lead at Blue Water Shipping, will present the format of this year's hackathon and give participants an insight into the structure and expectations. Billund Airport will then review the case that the participants will work on, which will form the framework for the next 32 hours.

"In the transportation industry, there is a "There is great and untapped potential in, among other things, the digitalization of document management and the optimization of transport time. With optimal solutions, actors will have the opportunity to gain real-time insight into the processes, fewer errors will occur and the exchange of information will be easier. This year's participants will have direct access to professional employees from Billund Airport, Blue Water Shipping and HT Transport & Spedition and we hope that on Thursday afternoon we will see a number of thought-provoking and innovative presentations from the participants," says Marie Skov Lillelund, director of Billund Erhverv.
