Green transition

Hooked Iron- & Metal acquisition's path to CO2 accounting

More and more companies in all industries are feeling the increasing environmental demands from customers, authorities and the outside world. Documentation and/or CO2 accounts are often required.

That's what happened at Stakroge Iron & Metal acquisition, when they were out with an offer.
The message was that even though the price was right, they were not selected due to the lack of CO2 accounting.

A few days before, they had received an email about CO2 accounts from Billund Erhverv, and Connie Anthonsen could remember that. "We had otherwise thought that we would just wait a year or two to start with CO2 accounting" Connie states and continues: "But suddenly we found out that it couldn't wait any longer, so I told Erik that we should take three mornings out of the calendar to participate in the workshop at Billund Erhverv".

"Green transition initially sounds like something very big and abstract, and you think it's difficult to get started" it comes from Erik Madsen "But it quickly turned out that it wasn't actually that difficult, and once you get interested in it, it's fun to find all the numbers - for example, the one about how our employees get to work. We have never given that a thought.”, Erik smiles.

Now Stakroge Jern- & Metalopkøb has got off to a good start with CO2 accounting, and the workshop at Billund Erhverv has brought it all down to eye level, as Connie says: "We have gained a much greater understanding of what kind of numbers we had to come up with and that it actually has something to do with it", and Erik adds: "The energy consultant Harald Karlsen was really good at explaining and learning from him - he spoke in a language that you could understand".

Completing the CO2 account costs Stakroke Jern- & Metalopkøb nothing more than the approx. three hours Connie Anthonsen spends on it a week. And the company expects to have the full CO2 account completed before the summer.
In the long run, several green and sustainable initiatives will be continuously implemented, and Stakroke Jern- & Metalopkøb can already present an ISO 14001 certification, and as they write on their website: "We constantly strive to become even better at protecting the environment, and this is reflected in our daily work, where we focus on correct sorting and reducing pollution".

If you are in need of sparring or advice regarding green conversion and CO2 accounting, you can book a 1:1 meeting with one of our business developers at Billund Erhverv. Through dialogue and various tools, you will have your company's green profile uncovered at the meeting, so that you will be ready to take the next steps.
